Our Fisheries Need Your Help!
One of the facts of life in Utah is that without the time and money of our state's fishing organizations many improvements to our fisheries would simply not be possible. Throughout the course of the year, these organizations initiate or help with a wide variety of fishing-related projects such as fish surveys, habitat restoration and much more.
Information on volunteer opportunities will be posted on this page when available. These opportunities are open to anyone, not just members of the sponsoring organization. If an opportunity listed here interests you, it is a good idea to notify the contact person for that project so they have an idea of how many will be coming and so they can let you know if something like the weather causes a change of plans.
Volunteering on a project is fun, satisfying, educational and a great way to help maintain and improve our fisheries. Some projects may be suitable for scout projects and provide an opportunity for parents and children to spend quality time outdoors for a worthwhile cause. Work on certain fisheries projects may also qualify toward dedicated hunter hours.
Far more opportunites to get involved are available through the individual UAC member organizations, which are listed here.

Spawn Creek Rebilitation Project, mid to late May, depending on access
Cache Anglers/UtahTrout Unlimited need lots of help with a major project on this Logan River Tributary, including:
- Trucks and long trailers to transport bucks and poles from the warehouse to the Spawn Creek parking lot, (a semi and a flat bed would be really helpful.)
- People with 4 wheelers and trailers to help distribute out the materials for the construction process about May 7 or 14 and then a couple weeks later.
- Help spreading out materials and assembling the fence after a USFS fire helicopter and fire crew lifts the fencing materials up to the far ends of both ridges about May 19.
It is expected that this project will have a positive impact on whirling disease and Bonneville cutthroat trout in the drainage. Any money volunteers can save during the construction process will be used for research on this project. Details on the time will be sent out in the next few weeks after snowpack and road conditions can be evaluated. Please contact Chris Thomas if you can help in any way! Much help is needed and everyone is welcome!!

Adult Volunteers Needed to Help Teach Kids How to Fish
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources needs adults for their fishing club program that teaches 6- to 13-year-old kids how to fish. These clubs have been established in communities along the Wasatch Front from Brigham City to Salem and the response has been very strong.
This is a rewarding, ongoing opportunity that has a very positive impact on the future of fishing in our state and does not require a large time committment. These clubs have rapidly become very popular and the need for volunteers will continue to grow. For more information contact Drew Cushing or see the information on the DWR website.
