- Angling is a valuable sources of
income and revenue for businesses and the economy of state and
local communities.
- Over 55 percent of the revenue generated by habitat license
fees for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (UDWR)
comes from the anglers of Utah.
- Utah has 406,000 licensed anglers.
- Nearly 150,000 non-resident anglers spent over 3.9 million
days fishing in Utah.**
- Expenditures related to fishing total $231 million.*
- Anglers average 3.9 million days on the water; hunters
average 1.7 million days in the field.
Wildlife-Watching accounted for 1.8 million days.*
- Licensed anglers constitute 21 percent of Utahs population.*
- Angling generate over $11-million in Utah sales tax, over
$5-million in state income tax, nearly
$12-million in federal income tax, and over $3.5-million
in Sport Fish Restoration excise tax.**
- The economic impact of anglers expenditures generate
an additional $468-million in other benefits to local communities.
- In many small Utah communities, angler expenditures were central
to economic health and growth.**
- In Utah, 6,773 jobs are directly related to angling.**
