Utah Anglers Coalition shall support those efforts that protect and enhance the aquatic resources of the state of Utah, because we believe that angling is a vital component in the heritage, tradition, quality of life and an economic benefit to the citizens of Utah.

Primary Concerns
  • Degradation of water quality in Utah’s waters.
  • Decline of fish populations through loss of habitat.
  • Inadequate enforcement of rules and regulations.
  • Lack of angler representation in legislative and advisory bodies that affect angling.
  • Inadequate staffing of agency fisheries personnel.
  • Need for improved communication among Utah’s anglers, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources; other agencies within the Department of Natural Resources; and other state and federal agencies responsible for the management of Utah’s natural resources.
  • Impact of increased population growth on fishery resources.
Utah Anglers Coalition Supports Efforts and Issues That:
  • Improve the water quality of our streams, rivers, lakes and reservoirs.
  • Enhance the quality of riparian and aquatic ecosystems.
  • Benefit nongame, threatened and endangered species.
  • Enforce regulations and impose appropriate penalties for poaching and other infractions.
  • Increase presence before the State Legislature, on the Wildlife Board and Regional Advisory Councils, and on other committees and boards capable of affecting angling in Utah.
  • Increase funding and staffing of trained fisheries biologists and ecologists.
  • Increase the opportunities for the development of urban fisheries.
  • Develop and implement an educational curriculum on the value of our aquatic resources and angling through out the education systems of Utah.
  • Improve cooperation between private property owners and the angling community.
  • Support appropriate state legislation beneficial to fisheries.
